Dereck D Devlin is a Scottish Marine Engineer educated at Southampton University. He started his working career as Engineering Officer in the British Merchant Navy sailing on refrigerated cargo and container ships. During this time, he sailed many times to Singapore and left his last ship in December 1985 from Keppel Dry Dock.
Dereck has been working for Atlas Copco for 33 years and gained valuable experience in many countries. He became one of the youngest managers in Atlas Copco at the age of 30 when he became the Service Manager for Scotland. In 1994, he moved to China becoming the Regional Aftermarket Manager for East Asia. He was the first western expat to live in China for Atlas Copco. This was the start of his world tour which brought him around the world. Today, he is the General Manager of Atlas Copco Malaysia and Singapore. Before taking up this role, he was the General Manager of Atlas Copco’s Customer Center in Taiwan. Prior to Taiwan’s posting, in 2006, he opened up the first Atlas Copco’s Customer Center in Pakistan where he covered both Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Dereck is passionate for the environment and a keen supporter of all products which can help to reduce environmental impacts.
