Carolina Haefliger heads the Centre for Genomics Research (CGR) at AstraZeneca since April 2019. In this role, she is responsible for the implementation of AZ’s Genomics Initiative aiming to analyze up to 2 Million genomics by 2026, for the identification of novel biological insights, targets and patient subpopulations through genomics. She joined AZ in 2015 as Head of the Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolic Precision Medicine Unit (CVRM PMU), in Precision Medicine and Genomics (PMG) and was responsible for the delivery of precision medicine and diagnostics to the CVRM portfolio across early and late development.
With experience in different geographic regions and cultures working for Novartis, Roche and Epigenomics, Carolina has more than 15 years’ experience in diagnostics, clinical biomarkers, translational sciences, translational and precision medicine in the cardiovascular and oncology areas. She holds a medical degree and is a clinical geneticist by training. Carolina’s passionate about making an impact in patient´s lives through precision medicines and promoting a diverse and inclusive working culture.
